FEL Front-End Loader Bins

Large metal containers emptied by a front-end-loader truck — for warehouses, estates and high-volume sites that have outgrown 1100L wheelie bins.

A FEL (front-end loader) bin is a large metal container, typically around 8–10 cubic yards, emptied by a specialist vehicle that lifts it over the cab. It is the step up from 1100L wheelie bins when volume is high and you have the space and access for a larger truck. Stratos Environmental compares FEL and REL (rear-end loader) options through licensed partners.

Who uses FEL containers

You need hard standing, overhead clearance for the lift, and a vehicle that can enter the site. A city-centre restaurant with a basement store is not an FEL site.

Pricing

FEL is usually priced per lift plus rental, sometimes with weight limits. It is not a one-price-fits-all bin; quotes are site-specific. Start with our prices overview then request a proper quote.

Frequently asked questions

What does FEL stand for?

Front-end loader — a collection vehicle that lifts the container from the front using forks. REL is rear-end loader, a different container and vehicle type.

Is FEL cheaper than several 1100L bins?

For high, consistent volume it often is. For a single restaurant it rarely is. We'll compare on your actual output.

Can FEL be used for recycling?

Yes, many sites run separate FEL containers for general waste and cardboard/recycling where space allows.
